2011 PSW of the Year: Viola Byrns
Viola is
a graduate of Lambton College and was nominated by Willa Greenwood,
the Manager of Kettle and Stony Point Home and Community Care where
Viola works.
As a matter of fact Viola started working at Kettle and Stony Point since its inception in 1996 and continued to work there despite the fact that she is beyond the age that most people retire at!!
Viola not only embodies all the qualities of professionalism but also demonstrates a commitment to improving the lives of people living in her community on a daily basis.
When asked by her granddaughter what keeps her in practice, Viola answered “It is important to me to protect people if they can’t protect themselves.” Viola not only understands what advocating on behalf of one’s client is all about but also knows how to put this understanding into practice.
Congratulations Viola, you are an example of PSW professionalism that we can all take pride in!
